Guess it is about time I posted something on here! Seems like I never have enough time to keep up to date everywhere!! Well Sara and I have bought a house since my last post and are now adjusting to home ownership. I am finding fun to come home to oyur own place and know that you are paying yourself everymonth as opposed to paying a landlord!! We are getting ready for a busy race season and Sara is finishing up her Masters work and will graduate in May.. I think she is looking forward to a little more free time..
Just a quick note today.. I will try and be more vigilant in the future!!

Sara and I spent this last weekend in Durango Co. racing a 50 mile mtb race and also volunteering for a mountain marathon on Sunday. We had great weather on Fri so we did a little ride on part of the race course. The next morning, race day, was overcast and looking like rain. The race started in decent weather but about an hour into the event in started to rain. The mud made the 50 miles feel more like 100. We both finished, I took 5th in my group and 18th overall, Sara finished 6th in the womens cat. She wished she could have done a little better and is focusing on training now that schools is done. On Sunday the weather was perfect for the mountain marathon, She and I,with Devi, road our bikes in 5 miles to the aid station we helped at. Fun day hanging out in the woods getting food and water to the racers. We had to dive back to Denver that night and got home late...Sara started her new job on Monday morning a little tired. A great weekend in a beautiful spot!

Another Moab weekend

It seems like my posts revolve around weekends in Moab..hmm, don't know why. Sara and I drove over to Moab on Thurs. to get out of the weird, rainy June weather on the Front Range. The weather on Fri. was a little iffy, even for Moab. A little rain, some wind.. We got in around midnight and stayed with Kirsten and her kids who had driven over to pick up Jenae's new waverunner I had brought with us. In the morning we took them rock climbing. It was nice to spend the morning with them and thought about getting in a ride that afternoon but the weather did'nt look promising. We opted instead for a hike up Negro Bill canyon to see Morning Glory arch. Great hike with poison ive as big as trees! Sat. was beautiful! We went out for a long ride and enjoyed the great weather. Sunday before leaving we went for another short 2 hr ride before driving home. All in all a great weekend! Looking foreward to racing in a couple of weeks in Durango then race season really gets underway!

Moab weekend

I know most people here will see these photos on Facebook but I just wanted to add some comments. Sara and I, with the two other members or our, hopefuly, Primal Quest team spent this last weekend in Moab doing some longer training rides. Sara and I camped out by Klondike Bluffs in our new"1969" Tent trailer. We are going to have a blast camping in it this summer! While Sara and I enjoyed perfect weather while riding Klondike Bluffs on Fri., Saturdays weather was a little iffy in the afternoon. It looked like rain most of the day and we just managed to not get rained on. The White Rim is a 103 mile loop and has some of the most amazing scenery Moab has to offer! Sara thought it would be a great way to spend her birthday!She and I really enjoyed the long day and even though Sara is not riding as much as she would like right now, kicked butt! The two guys from our team did well and although a little tired they finished the ride. It was a great weekend and of course Sara and I are always looking forward to returning to our "holy Land"!

Moab Adventure Race

Well, we...Sara, Brent and I had a really fun time racing this weekend in Moab! Sara and I left Denver on Weds. morning, missing the 16 inches of snow that fell on Thurs, driving over in pretty decent weather. We camped out on Weds. night, then opted for a motel the rest of the week. A little more studying friendly than sitting around in the blowing sand. Brent and my Dad came over on Fri. and Dad. Sara and I got in a quick ride, after I drove back into town 15 miles to get my biking shoes I left in the motel room. Not a real good day for me as when we were pulling out of the parking area we had ridden, I did not check my bike to make sure it was tied down. First turn onto the main road my bike fell off the roof breaking the seatpost. Lucky that was all that broke!! Kinda a DUH!! moment for me. Thanks to Dad for letting use his post for the race. It was a really fun race and we all had a great time and finished well. Sara won the womens solo division, Brent finished under the 8 hrs he was shooting for and I finished 6th. Great day! I will post more photos once Brent gets them to me.

Another fun Pueblo weekend

Sara and I spent this Sunday paddling and riding down at Pueblo resevoir. A perfect day for training. After spending last weekend in Moab, we enjoyed having a great day closer to home. Attached photos are from this weekend and Moab. Looking forward to the race at the end of the month in Moab and with Sara doing her thesis in Moab, we should be down a bunch this summer.

Got a few great misc. photos of Devi and Merckx, getting along better every day.. Sara and I took our boats out to Pueblo reservoir for a day of block training. This was the first day out in my new "used" boat. Sara gave me much appreciated pointers, as I have never paddled a kayak in my life. After paddling around for a few hours we pulled in, jumped on the road bikes, just because:) Had a great day paddling and riding, even though I'm still fighting off a head cold. We are looking forward to going back down there and riding the mtn. bike trails, we didn't know existed.

Valentines flowers and Merckx has the power

So, Sara wanted me to put a photo of her Valentines day flowers which, she says, were a total surprise, on here... I had to send her "the" Vtines gifts.. Flowers and chocolate.. I wish everyone a loving Valentines Day!
We do have a new addition to our new little family, Merckx. We got her from a guy I know at work that could not keep her. For the first week we did not see much of her. She liked hiding under the bed and the coffee table. Slowy, ever so slowly, she is beginning to come out and be a little social. Well, Devi wwas not quite sure how to take a kitty in the house, after being an only child. But now, they get along a little bit better every day. She is a great cat and we are very happy to have her in our lives.
Other than than that, we are training for our Moab race in March.

What a fun weekend this has been. Sara and I went up to Arapaho Basin ski area on Fri. and had a great time. First day at a resort this year for both of us. Great conditions and a beautiful day. Yesterday the weather was perfect for a bike ride so we went out for a little 50 mile ride. Really good to be back in the saddle again:) Sore tush to go along with the smiles though... Today we went out for a great hike with Devi. Devi is showing her age now, as soon as she gets a little food it is straight to bed. What a life she has..

I did something this week that I didn't think I would for a while yet. I got rid of my motorcycle. I haven't ridden it much at all in the last couple of years and it's just sat around. I found a guy with a really cool Mazda Miata that he wanted to trade for a motorcycle and since it is not the time to try and sell anything, I am the proud owner of a zippy little Mazda. It will help keep the miles off my truck as well as getting great gas mileage. Been a pretty busy weekend over here but now it is back to school/work, until next weekend..... Sorry about the finger in the video!

A little ski touring, winter.... enduring

Funny, usually I am all about the cold, snow, ice etc...... This year I want Spring:) Sara, Devi and I went up to Monarch Pass this weekend to do a little touring. She took her new skis and I took my splitboard. We had a blast! No one around as it was really stormy, made in even funner! We are going to try and get up to a resort this weekend so Sara can really try out her new skis.... Hopefully! Things are well... not much else to tell:)

Well, it is back to school for Sara today. So this being the last totally free weekend we took the opportunity to take my Dad his mtn. bike and do some ice climbing. Perfect weather for climbing ice. Not super cold but cold enough to keep the ice climbable. It was a great weekend! We climbed a long climb in Provo canyon, "Stairway to Heaven" one day then a climb up Little Cottonwood canyon,"Great white icicle" the next day. On Sat. we took the snowshoes and hiked up Mt. Timpanogos, outside of Provo. It was a great hike with the snow being very solid for this late in winter. The ice we hiked up to climb was mostly burried in snow but took the opportunity to get some practice walking on steep snow. We went to a climbing gym with Kirsten and her kids on Fri. and had a good visit with Shaunalei and Michelle on Sat. Dinner with Mom and Don on Thurs. night was a real treat as well. It was great to spend time with everyone. All in all a fun visit and Sara got to meet Shaunalei and Michelle for the first time. She can finally put faces with names. Now it is back to school and studies for Sara with a suporting roll from me. Racing season is just around the corner so Spring can't get here quick enough.

Beautiful Ouray on Christmas day...well.... weekend.

Sara and I, and Devi, spent our Christmas weekend ice climbing in Ouray, Co. We opened our presents on Christmas eve and then got up early for the drive to Ouray. Even Devi had a few presents to open, a couple of which she couldn't wait for Christmas to open. Getting home from work a few days before Christmas I found pieces of wrapping paper spread around the room and two little plastic legs sticking out of one of her presents, ohhhh she looked guilty. The weather the first couple of days was very cold and snowy so the back country climbs we wanted to do weren't safe to climb. The last 2 days warmed up nicely and we climbed a bunch of routes in the man made ice park. A beautiful weekend, and a wonderful Christmas. We are enjoying spending time together while Sara's school break gets ever shorter.

Well, today Sara took the day off from studying and we went out to find some ice. Sara knew of a place close by and remembered where it was. So after a bit of searching we walked down and found the ice. A little thin, but hey, it's early in the season and it's relatively close to the house. For the first lead of the season, I was wanting thicker ice but after a bit of nerves, it all went well. Sara has one more exam on Monday then 5 weeks off. Time for her to relax, and enjoy her free time!

Christmas trees and sore knees

Sara and I got our first Christmas tree together on Friday. It is a perfect little tree and smells SO good! We decorated it with all of Sara decorations and it looks perfect! Today, Sara was busy studying at the library, so after chopping wood this morning I took Devi out for a run in the snow. Three hours later I trudged back to the house, I was only planning on being gone an hour or so. It was such a perfect day for a run though, so it lasted a little longer. Sore knees again, but after a couple of hours they feel "normal" again:) Got some great photos of our tree and from the run Devi and I did.

Doggy fights and Turkey bites

Sara and I had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year, our first together. We invited one of our neighbors over and cooked a great meal. It was a great day and ate way too much. Over indulgence is ok once in a while. The turkey I cooked came out great and thanks to Sara's mom, the gravy was a hit. A few photos of the day and a great video of chasing Devi around our living room.

We woke up to a bunch of snow yesterday so I decided to get on the rollers for a little exercise. It is pretty funny to watch, I really try and not crash. I was showing Sara the video and she just wanted to see me crash. But the sun was back out today, and back into the 60's tomorrow. Life in CO.

Tattoos and Mice

Well, we have had a mice issue in our house for a while now. A few weeks ago Sara went and bought a friendly mouse trap and we proceeded to catch 2. Then last night we caught another.

Turning 43

Well yesterday I turned 43. AS dad said "happy birthday to you, there's not much left of 42" Makes me laugh still when I read it. After weeks of really warm temps here in CO it finally turned a little colder today. Ice climbing can't be that far off.... Sat. I think Sara and I will head up and see if we can't get cold and scared on something frozen and steep. Crazy fun sport.. Photos to follow, if I can remember my camera. A great photo of Sara taken in Ouray, Co. She ROCKS!!
